The Classic Thunder Nostalgia Racing Organization was formed in early September 2002 to provide the nostalgia racers a place to meet and race. On August 17th 2002 Classic Thunder appeared at a local track in South Carolina for their inaugural race. The response from the public and racers was one that will go down in the record books at Ware Shoals Dragway. Featured at that race were cars that represented classes from the 60's to today's day racers. Classic funny cars, gassers, nostalgia front engine dragsters, super stockers, late model funny cars, altereds rear engine dragsters and a guest appearance by Alan Pittman, Ken Westbrook's Grave Digger promod. Advertising efforts for this race were funded by Bob Gettys
. Flyers, news paper articles website promotions saturated the entire area. Rickey Bowie, Rick Harrison, Rick Shinta traveled many miles making sure flyers were placed in high traffic locations at their own expense. Bill Pratt of Draglist.com blanked the internet with information about the upcoming race. Bill was on hand to do the announcing for the race and offered additional information about each racer as they approached the starting line. Rayford Gambrell offered Classic Thunder a chance to show the racing community and the world what we were all about. On November 29th and 30th, Classic Thunder travels to Darlington International Dragway. This is will be the last Classic Thunder race for 2002.

The Classic Thunder racers have put their faith in us to do the best job we can do advertising the Darlington race. As we all know advertising can be very expensive. To do the best job possible we need every ones support in any way possible.
