| The Rebuilding Of Classic Thunder |
|
When you get to be my age it seems like time flies.
It doesn't seem that long ago when I remember drag racing was a fun time.
Two cars would stage on a line and the flagman would wave his flag for an
all out race to the other end where another flagman would wave to the lane
of the winner. There was no such thing as a tree or dial ins. When different
classes were competing against each other, A/Gas against C/Gas, the C/Gas
car was spotted so many car lengths. When that flag dropped, both cars left
at the same time, thundering down the track to the other end with the A/Gasser
trying his best to catch the C/Gasser. No delay boxes or any other of those
electronic devices that control the car, just driver and machine going as
hard as they could every time they pulled to the line. This was our beginning. |
