Classic Thunder Outlaw Class Rules
The rules listed below are the proposed rules for the 2004 Classic Thunder Outlaw Class. These rules can - will be modified as needed. These rules will be presented at the Classic thunder 2004 business meeting held in Greenwood SC on January 17th 2004 at the Inn On The Square.

  1. CLASSIC THUNDER OUTLAWS - DESIGNATION: CT/Outlaws
  2. NAME DEFINITION:
    • Outlaws: Any car that was denied access to one or more of the Existing Classic Thunder Classes because;
      • year model
      • engine combination
        • NOS / BB - blower size - blower overdrive - ect
      • capable et
    • CLASSIC: Any car 30 years old or older.
    • BODY: Must be 30 years or older. Any style or type. Must be complete body (front fenders, doors, trunk, hood, and top (unless it is a convertible). The driver must enter car by Doors that open. Top may be chopped. Body must have the similar look of original car appearance.
      • Year make: In reference to 30 years or older refers to the current calendar year. During the year of 2004, any body style from 1974 and older is excepted.
  3. CONVERTIBLES: Kit cars, example, 427 cobras that were sold with or with out tops are permitted. Factory models that were available as convertibles, mustangs, camaros, ect are permitted. Any Convertible must have proper head protection.
  4. DRIVER SAFETY:
    • ROLL CAGE: Roll cage point system must meet or exceed the requirements as stated in the IHRA or NHRA rules, which ever is least required for the ET that your car is capable of running.
    • PERSONAL PROTECTION; All drivers are required to wear the recommended protective clothing as stated in the IHRA or NHRA rule book which ever is the minimum required.
    • FIRE PROTECTION: On board fire extinguishing systems will be required if stated in the IHRA or NHRA rules for the ET of your car.
  5. CHASSIS: Must have 3 inch ground clearance .See general safety for chassis inspection
  6. DRIVER: Must sit behind engine unless that model of car was originaly designed at the factory where the driver sits in front of the engine. Right or left steer. No center steer permitted
  7. WINGS AND SPOILERS: Permitted
  8. WHEELBASE: 90-inch min. 120-inch max.
  9. ENGINE: Any engine, any style, any cubic inch
  10. INDUCTION SYSTEM: Blower, carburetors, injectors, or turbos. Any combination
  11. FUEL: Gasoline or Alcohol only
  12. Power Adders: Engines can run blowers or nitrous. Combinations using both will not be permitted!
  13. EXHAUST: Must have competition headers or zoomies
  14. ELECTRONICS: Any, down track sputter and stop controls prohibited.
  15. SUPERCHARGER: Blowers must have restraint
  16. TRANSMISSION: Any type or style. All shields and blankets required
  17. SAFETY: General Safety Rules as required for ET your car is capable of running that is set in the NHRA or IHRA guidlines.
